Listed below is a selected set of biographies of our instructors.

 
Steve O'Hearn has been designing and developing Oracle databases for over 14 years. His clients have included the World Bank, NASA, the FAA, US Army, US Navy, and a host of other clients in both government and private industry. He is the Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Oracle Professionals (MAOP), where he served as Webmaster for two years. He is the author of Chapter 27, "Oracle Web Application Server 3.0" from Oracle8 Server Unleashed, the technical editor of "Oracle Web Applications 101" from The Oracle Press and the author of the "High Tech Track" column in IT Recruiter magazine. He is an Oracle Certified Professional in Release 2 of Oracle Development tools. He is also a member of MENSA and the National Press Club.

Ed Spinella joined the db-Training staff after a successful 3 year employment with Oracle Corporation, supporting such clients as Naval Sea Systems Command and the United States Marine Corps. A former alumni of the forerunner to the current db-Training curriculum taught at Advantec Institute by Dan Hinkle, Mr. Spinella served in the Marine Corps, where he managed all hardware and software upgrades to the Presidential Helicopters. He has a Masters Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and and has successfully completed Oracle's certification program for SQL and PL/SQL programming languages.
 
Adil Shaikh has over six years of experience, as a consultant and training instructor, in the design and development of Oracle-based applications. His well-known and prestigious clients include the U.S. Department of Army, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Advantec Institute. He is currently the Director of Product Development at Information Systems Consortium, Inc. Mr. Shaikh is also an Oracle Certified Professional. His professional affiliations include the Mid-Atlantic Association of Oracle Professionals (MAOP), where he has been an active member for the past six years.
 
Jay Nielsen has been designing, developing, and maintaining Oracle databases since 1988. He has been teaching for db-Training since 1999. His Oracle experience began in the US Air Force where he was part of a small group hand picked and set aside from the rest of the US Air Force to learn, explore, and push the envelope of relational database technology. He continued in Oracle technology after retiring from the US Air Force, and has worked for Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Oracle Corporation, Trident Data Systems (now acquired by General Dynamics), Sysorex Federal, and iSYS LLC. His clients have included the NRO, CIA, DIA, FBI, Lockheed-Martin Corporation, The Department of Education, The US Chamber of Commerce, and The Department of Defense. He was working in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. He is currently working on an Information System modernization project for the FBI. Mr. Nielsen is an Oracle Certified Professional as a Developer. He also has DBA experience.
 
Josh Parreco has been writing computer programs for over 10 years, professionally for over 6 years. He has worked for several years at Startec Global Communications Corporation where he developed applications for tasks ranging from payroll to Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Currently, Josh is a Senior Programmer for Sysorex Consulting where he utilizes his rich skill set, which includes Java, Visual Basic, C, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting and Perl. Josh is a Sun Certified Java Programmer and an expert in developing E-Commerce applications using the Java Enterprise Edition. When not working or teaching, Josh spends his time contributing to various open source applications.
 
Sarah Henrikson graduated magna cum laude from The College of William and Mary with a B.B.A. in Information Technology. She has worked with such databases as dBase, R-Base, Access, and DB2. She began working exclusively with Oracle in early 1997 after completion of the Oracle Developer certification program taught by Dan Hinkle at Advantec Institute. Her clients include Bell Atlantic, The Discovery Channel, the Army Petroleum Center, and the Defense Energy Support Center. Her experience includes Oracle's Developer, Designer, and Web Application Server tools. She is Oracle Developer Certified from Oracle Corporation and is an active member of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Oracle Professionals (MAOP), where her Spring 1999 Conference presentation on PL/SQL programming was enthusiastically received and highly rated.
 
Susan Harpe is an OCP certified Oracle Developer with over 14 years of experience in Information Systems design, development, administration, implementation, and performance tuning; including 10 years of this experience on Oracle products. She began working with Oracle using Oracle Version 5.0 and SQL*Forms 2.3. Since then, Ms Harpe has progressed with Oracle and its related products currently using Oracle Designer V6.0 and Oracle Developer V6.0. She has been involved in every step of the full life cycle for database and application design and development, including development of methodologies and approaches, design, database administration, development, testing and quality assurance, developer and user documentation, implementation, and application performance and tuning. Ms. Harpe has a diverse background extending into both the public and private sectors. In addition, she has designed, developed, and taught Oracle related courses on a professional level.
 
Terri Buckler has been designing, developing and maintaining Oracle databases and Oracle applications for over ten years. She has spent her career as a consultant for both commercial and government clients, and she has over three and a half years experience as a consultant for Oracle Corporation. For the Naval Air Command, her first project included doing an upgrade to Oracle 5.0 and developing applications using Oracle Forms 2.3. Since then, she has continued to grow her career and has followed the evolution of Oracle products through the current versions of the database(8i) and design tools. Ms. Buckler's clients have included the United States Army, United States Coast Guard, Department of Energy, Federal Emergency Management Agency, world-wide genetics research agencies and world-wide non-profit organizations.
 
Murray Green was born and reared in New Orleans, LA where he developed an interest in music and technology. He began his technology studies as a Cooperative Education student at the local junior college while a senior in high school. Mr. Green attended the University of Tulsa, where he majored in Electrical Engineering. In 1985 he earned his BSEE. After college, Mr. Green served his country as a member of the United States Army, as a Systems Programmer/Analyst. It was during this time that he got his first exposure to the ORACLE RDBMS. He quickly mastered the SQL language and was instrumental in aiding his department to adapt to the new client server computing paradigm. After 4.5 years, he moved into the private sector where he work for a large direct mail firm as a production Oracle DBA. When he achieved senior level status, Mr. Green began work as an Oracle DBA consultant, working on many projects, and served for a time as an Oracle Corporation Employee. Currently, Mr. Green works in one of the most dynamic internet corporations in the world today. He specializes in Oracle database technology in an internet infrastructure.
 
Bonnie Vermillion has over 12 years of Oracle experience working for the Federal Government and several private consulting firms. Ms. Vermillion presently works for the Federal Reserve Board using various Oracle tools to produce web enabled Oracle developed applications. She uses Oracle Designer in building Webserver Generator Applications, web enables Oracle Developer Forms and Reports, and uses WebDB to create Web Sites which launch Oracle developed applications. Her knowledge extends to the installation and configurement of the Oracle Web Server and Reports Server. Ms. Vermillion has presented technical papers at various Oracle user group conferences including MAOP (Mid Atlantic Oracle Professionals), ECO (East Coast Oracle Users Group) and ODTUG (Oracle Development Tools User Group).
 
John Park has over ten years of business experience in the database software industry. He has spent eight of those years working with Oracle Databases. His experience has provided him with an understanding of the technical, business, and people issues involved in developing and maintaining complex information systems. Past responsibilities include business system analysis, design, development, database administration, system administration and project management. John spent four years working with Oracle Corporation where he specialized in designing, tuning and developing backup and recovery strategies for Multi-Terabyte Data Warehouses. His clients include large telecommunications, pharmaceutical, biotech, utility, health care, and insurance companies. John has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
 
Nick Gabrielatos has over fifteen years of experience as a technical trainer, including six years with American University and four years with the University of Maryland. With a concentration in Computer Science and Information Systems he has taught numerous courses including PL/I, Ada, DBMS, SQL (Oracle), PL/SQL, C, UNIX, COBOL, Pascal, Java and many others. In addition to his academic experience, Nick has nearly twenty years of "real world" experience most recently with organizations such as America Online, Lockheed-Martin and Westat. He is an Oracle Certified Professional and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri.
 
Zahid Shaikh has over 8 years of experience in Oracle Technology and has taught Oracle Developer and Oracle DBA for over 4 years. He currently works as a Software Developer, Oracle DBA and a Task Manager. He has extensive knowledge of Oracle Developer, Oracle Designer, Oracle Application Server and Oracle in conjunction with NT and Unix operating systems. His previous and current clients include the Federal Aviation Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and the US Forestry Service. He is an Oracle8 Certified Professional and holds an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in Management Information Systems from Bowie State University.
