Homework in this course is a good thing. Ask anyone who is a computer programmer, and they will tell you: you can read all the books you want, but until you sit down in front of a keyboard and actually try creating a computer program, you don't know anything. We build you up systematically to the point where you can actually create your own applications. We go through a cycle of methodical steps for every topic addressed:
We have been teaching for years, and believe us, this is the best, most effective, and most enjoyable approach for the student. For classes that meet two nights per week, homework is not assigned every week. When it is assigned, it is given on the last weeknight of the week, allowing you a healthy amount of time to do it. For example, for a Tuesday/Thursday class, homework would only be assigned on a Thursday night, giving you Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to complete the assignment before class begins on Tuesday. Homework assignments range from one to four hours per week, depending on how you choose to approach it. The combination of exercises done in-class and at home combine to give you a powerful portfolio of actual software applications you have developed, giving you the edge in interviews or opportunities with your current employer. |
